DELTA Milieu

Since the spring of 2009, DELTA Milieu, the environment branch of Zeeland DELTA N.V., has been live with a completely new automation system: Microsoft Dynamics combined with ENWIS: the integrated total solution for waste management & recycling. This new ICT platform enables the integrated waste management service to switch to an enterprise-wide system in which virtually all operating administrations have been classified. The result: a better overview of the organisation DELTA Milieu.

DELTA Milieu originated from several companies, each of them having its own field of activity, varying from industrial cleaning and recycling to waste collection and composting. These various branches rarely shared a uniform method for the same processes and information was obtained from various places and various systems. This resulted into a growing wish to make the business processes more uniform and provide better insight, across the various offices of DELTA Milieu.

methodSince the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV/ENWIS, DELTA Milieu has got one integrated ICT platform in which virtually all financial and operating administrations have been classified.  Accounting, sales, purchasing and projects waste administrations of the various DELTA Milieu branches have been migrated to the new system. Ab Postma, Manager Data supply and project principal: “The main advantage of the system is that it supports a uniform method within DELTA Milieu, which provides much usable management information. Now that all business information has been stored at one place, DELTA Milieu has a better overview of the organisation. There is a better understanding of the business processes and the company results and reporting has become much easier.”

Weighbridge integration“Another vital advantage of the solution is the weighbridge integration,” continues Postma. “Since all DELTA Milieu weighbridges are linked to Dynamics NAV/ENWIS, they work in an unambiguous way. The system integrates all business functions and, therefore, we can immediately see, book, report and invoice the weighing results the very same day.” What makes the weighbridge integration so special is the fact that within Dynamics NAV/ENWIS one weighbridge can operate for more than one branch. Postma: “Take the Nieuwdorp site, for instance. Its weighbridge is used for four different branches. This is possible because a special shell has been designed in the system where data is entered. From there, the weighing data are linked to the branch where the waste will be actually taken in.”

Industry-specific knowledgeQurius had been selected as supplier because of their industry-specific knowledge and the resulting specialized solution (ENWIS). Given DELTA Milieu’s various fields of activities, one integrated solution for all these services is essential. What is Postma’s opinion when looking back on these past months? “The period after going live has proved to be much better than anticipated, partly because we did a thorough job of preparation. It struck me that people helped one another ‘across the branches’. The cohesion between the various fields of activities has enormously improved! Thanks to the key users and the consultants, the system works well now. In spite of the stress, everyone remained eager and determined to make the project successful.  It was a joint effort and a joint top performance!”
